Zancanaro is a fabulous Verdian baratone--I love to hear him sing Verdi. He never sang enough in this country.

Giorgio Zancanaro to me has become a baritone by whose standard I judge all the other baritones. In other words they either come close to his brilliance or they don't.

A little bit too slow for my taste, I like the pace of Taddei's Version more, but this is very well sung!

A very beautiful and unique voice. It has all the warmth and dark colouring, but it is an open, unforced sound with an eloquence and a sense of style. Bravo Zancanaro!

The DVD is worth buying for Zancanaro's performance. Too bad he was made to sit down for this great aria. The tenor is not very believable as his son.
