From the overweight bride-to-be in Muriels Wedding to the depressed single mum in About a Boy, there appears to be no role that can challenge Toni Collette!

She teamed up with Cameron Diaz in director Curtis Hanson's 2005 dramedy In Her Shoes, which cast the actresses as tight-knit but polar opposite sisters—Toni the responsible attorney with low self-esteem, Cameron as the reckless, sexy party girl.

The two have a falling out and must slowly come to learn that they share more than the same size feet!

Toni made a name for herself in films like Emma, Velvet Goldmine, About a Boy and Connie and Carla, but it was her role in psychological thriller The Sixth Sense that catapulted her to Hollywood stardom.

Her performance as a struggling single mother of a psychic child garnered her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination.

20:38
Toni received glowing reviews for her role as a geologist who becomes entangled with an Asian businessman in the Australian indie film Japanese Story before she teamed up with Robin Williams in The Night Listener.

Her next film, 2006s Little Miss Sunshine saw her receive a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy as a wife and mother dealing with her dysfunctional family.

She was honored with a second nod at the Golden Globes that year, this time for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, for her costarring role as an aid worker in Tsunami, the Aftermath.

Toni hasnt just limited her talents to on screen! In 2006, she began touring Australia to promote her debut album Beautiful Awkward Pictures.

  • For me, Toni Collette is the greatest contemporary actress. I really adore her and I cannot think of any other actress that could bear comparison. She is smart, genuine, down-to-earth, absolutely convincing and extremely versatile no matter which role she plays. Above all she is of course very attractive, charming, appealing and very likeable. I simply love her and I am very moved and touched by her every time I see her on the screen.

  • Her performance in Muriel's Wedding was one of the best performances I've ever seen. She should of been nominated for an Oscar and won it for that incredible performance. She also is in a new show called United States Of Tara, which is a great show. :)

No doubt one of my favorite actresses of all time!

  • @Watch4 Thats such a powerful scene, and she nails it so convincingly.

  • @hevog Yeah she does rock. I cry everytime I watch that scene in Sixth Sense the car. She cries so realistically.

  • I just watched Toni in "Towelhead" last night on HBO. Would like to see her and Frances McDormand in a movie.
