  • I think the Ipad not only lacks the option of flash but it also lacks the most common of common features such a device should have standard such as USB port, SD card slot, and expandable memory and hard drive. It is obvious that Apple plays the game of keeping a certain market share and keeping that market share keep upgrading by buying the newer model.

  • yep, in large part much of the product is refreshed and purchased by the same demographic.

  • There is a third outcome neither die & both are used i mean did flash kill java applets? No not really they are still used, nowhere near as much as flash but they are still used. So why is flash more popular? From what i've heard its able to do things that applets cannot & thats what its all about imo devs will switch if it offers them the ability to do more. HTML5 will have to be able to do this if it doesn't it wont overtake flash imo.

  • yes they can co exist and is why the title use & rather than vs. Java moved to javafx for more flash type mediums.

  • HTML may not replace flash for the web anytime soon but to say its importance isnt being reduced is wrong. For sites I use like Youtube, HTML5 WILL replace flash. when I go to youtube im gonna have html5 sooner or later. while html5 wont completely replace flash it will replace a big part of it. most users dont give a shit. its early but i see it happening, flash is loosing its hold. this early and we already see flash loosing ground.

  • the point is not anytime soon, they must resolve the codec issue and standards across browsers, to this day standards across browsers is still not met. Lots of hurdles, Flash being private has an advantage on that, they write the plugin and not standards have to be met or argued.

  • Look up this video on youtube >> "See What Flash Can do with the Molehill 3D API "

The new stuff coming to Flash is going to KILL HTML5 , and silverlight .

  • @rifall taking away options so you are dependent and limited to only one way is the way they corner you into their way of doing things. Take away SD, USB, and Disc Drives....then you are reliant on bandwidth usage that runs your minutes out to cause you to pay more monthly costs. They take away features to save themselves manufacturing costs without passing the saving down to you yet they give you a lesser product. I dont' know. Maybe I am talking out of my butt.

  • @GlockNinja I predict iPad will never get those because it doesn't need it. stuff like USB and SD are not necessary when the bluetooth, email, and facebook get all your data off of it and on other devices. So when people are buying iPads and they still don't have usb and sd, then competitors will just have to suck it up and get over it.

  • I'll never buy any apple product even if they supported flash with their moms and sisters. How bout that.

  • Why i buy a mac? DOUCHE!!!!!

  • DOUCHE!

  • The only reason flash is here to today is that it made our time on the internet better. Simply said if its not broke why fix it. I think Apple is wrong for not supporting flash and its not putting there consumers first. The arrogance of apple to do this is wrong.

  • Flashblock in browser <3 Use flash only when you need it :)

  • "I can say Flash can be resource-intensive and can be very unstable..." Then why do you only make Flash videos here on YouTube? You should try uploading 720p or even 1080p HTML5 videos instead, same things just less of what I quoted you on.

And its not like you have anything to lose on it.

  • only thing i see in html5 is better streaming file, but still can't do smart stuff that flash only could
