Maori Party MP Hone Harawera gives an excellent interview in support of opening a dialogue with the Fijian Military Government. The Maori Party has recently come under fire by some sections of the Pakeha media for the Maori Partys desire to open dialogue with the Fijian Government.

Hone Harawera rightfully points out that that as (Maori and Fijian are) fellow sons of Maui, Mena mauiui ana tou whanaunga me haere koe kite ai.- (if your relative is feeling unwell, then you must go and see him).
The current New Zealand Government stance of trying to ostracize the current Fijian Regime without leaving room open for an honest dialogue could be counter productive. At least the Maori Party leadership has been honest in its attempts to try to find a solution to the Fijian question. It could be argued that the Sons of Maui could just find the solution where the NZ Govt could not. Perhaps herein lies the root of the governments reticence. One thing is certain, any attempt to bully Fiji into compliance without at least attempting to seek a dialogue or establishing all the facts about the current situation in Fiji could see a Cuban effect.

What is needed is for a full unbiased media report to investigate the current situation in Fiji and report back objectively. This is something I fear hasnt properly happened under the current Pakeha media. After all, there maybe one coin but there two sides to it. I believe that we are only looking at the Pakeha queens head whilst hiding the tail. Until such time that we get a proper understanding of Fiji and unless we are able to open to open a dialogue with their government, then I believe that we are not going to get at the heart of the problem. One thing is certain, we are currently achieving neither.

  • Just goes to show how little any Maori in NZ along with "Hone the over compensator" understands the Fijian situation as it is not about sovereignty and holds views that the Maori party and other racists residing in my beautiful NZ would do well to observe.

The fact that NZ journos and politicos are unable to fully grasp the job he has undertaken is even sadder as his methods are a requirement in the face of pig headed, self centered and potentially violent racist groups.

    The flag waving types

  • BRAINLESS!!!

  • Oh ok... so you ARE a whakapapa expert then??? :-) Hehehe

Maybe I did lose... I'm not even sure what "lse mate" means!!!

  • I think you lse mate...Only one reason someone picks on spelling...and thats because they know they've lost the debate and pointing out spelling mistakes is the only ammo they have left...lol

  • I rest my case... now shoo!!!

  • Oh you spotted a spelling mistake! guess you win the debate lol.. Youtube has a built in spell checker you fool, I type fast and don't always check my spelling.

  • Do you have spell check??? USE IT!!!

  • Let me explain something to you lol.. Hone is part Maori where ever he is on the planet.. whether its visiting Aborigines in Aussie, or Frog in France.. A Mule is a Mule, it can't call itself a horse when it runs with horses or a donkey when running with Donkeys, it is partly both ALL the time, it can't choose to be anything other than what it is...lol Is Aotearoa another name for Jail? if so , you're half right

  • Allow me to explain so you aren't dumb for the rest of your life. You are obviously NOT Maori so have NO authority to comment on this... I am tho, so I do :-)

Maori, nowadays, have blood from all sorts of cultures in our veins.

Here in Aotearoa, the ONLY bloodline that means anything is Maori... when we go overseas we jump on that whakapapa, so as to find identity there.

So yes, Maori ARE different... we know who we are :-)

Can I help with anything else???

  • Explain why I have to be.. it not enough to just make statements like that as though they're fact

In what way do you mean Maori are different? Maori have 1 mother and 1 father the same as everyone else...Hone ISN't just Maori... he has mixed heritage, .. do you think it would be odd if Hone was going on about lazy Maori? when hes part Maori himself? when he talk of non Maori being part one himself its just as silly...
