Zoro was a majestic horse that was rescued from a Livestock Auction. He suffered from Stringhalt, but thanks to our generous supporters he was given the needed surgery. If we had not rescued him, he no doubt would have been shipped to slaughter.
anyone who helps an animal IS a hero in my mind. i worked as a verterinary technician for many years and saw the cruelty that humans inflicted on innocent animals. i also witnessed the wonderful people who selflessly worked in shifts to keep an animal alive and nurse him/her back to health. animals are our gifts, and we should treat them as such, with respect and honor.
I do not see myself as a hero, merely as someone that has been called to help these majestic creatures that most people seem to have forgotten. It is the people like you and I that are going to make a difference for them. Even if it is only one horse at a time. God bless you and all that are doing what they can to save the horses!
She is a real sweetheart and her colt had never had human contact. The lady that had them was so overwhelmed between her animals and her ex's that she was unable to feed them properly at all. There were over ten horses, a donkey, 60 goats, 30 dogs, tons of sheep and I dunno how many rabbits. She was happy to let me give them a new home where they can be cared for properly and the mare can be nursed back to health. I wish there were more people to help these horses, but I do what I can to help.
I do not know if my previous post actually posted or not. I was saying that I totally agree that they need our help badly. As a matter of fact I recently added four horses in need to my family. The number is now five, as the pony that was in the group has had a colt. There is a mare with a colt that is the worst of the bunch. She is skin and bone, literally. You can count every vertebrae and rib. I have been fighting colic with her but have managed to get a few pounds back on her.
you are a true hero....thank you for your kindness, compassion, and gentle hand towards the tossed-aside horses that so thoughtlessly and cruelly are killed. we all need to do what we can to help the animals----THEY NEED OUR HELP!
