  • A truly wonderful adaption of the story, which has quite rightly been placed amongst the most highly regarded and loved novels written by that giant of English literature Jane Austen.

This was made with such skill and regard for that novel, I don't think it has or ever will be bettered. Beautifuilly acted, with the mannerisms and costumes of a bygone England faithfully portrayed. The two main protagonists here spark with a sexual tension that holds one enthralled throughout. Great drama.

  • i love how mr darcy insists that lizzie isnt for him and yet everytime he sees her his face gets all serious and its like hes thinking ''my god i love her''

  • I love Darcy's smile at 3:47

  • The drunk must have been worth a lot of $ to have gotten a wife like this. They all tollerate him and forget the man he is when dealing with the Bennets./ Charlotte is of the school of believing that a man with masses of $ is more important than a man of character. Wickham is charming. That's how he get rich women because he has nothing of value himself. No one could check his background so he's home free with the Bennets. Darcy is egotistical understanding his $ can get him anyone.

  • Is Mr Darcy amused by Colin's dance or...

  • usally darcy doesnt smile but in this ver when he saw how collins dance he smiled a little

  • wikhams friend is more good looking than wikham XD

  • @EnterprisingVoyager The 1996 version

  • 6:20 this is the same song that they play in Emma! I love this adaptation! The absolute best one !

  • The one thing that bugs me in this version is how they portray Darcy in the beginning. In the novel, Darcy even explains to Elizabeth towards the end that even though he had been brought up to have tons of pride in his family's wealth and status, he never really embraced it. In this version, Firth looks like he hates people. In the 2005 version, Darcy's character is just coldly observant in the beginning, but he develops expressions of quiet vulnerability as he releases some of his pride.

  • ...and for me, I was more drawn in to the 2005 version. The camera shots varied, they played with light, and I felt it was meant more to draw emotional connection than the BBC version. I'm sorry, but whenever I try to watch this one, I get the urge to stop watching. Just how my brain reacts to it. It's closer to a documentary of Jane Austen's book and if their goal was to be accurate, I guess they nailed it. Collin Firth's acting just seems more toward a comedy.
