Very fresh sashimi & sushi in Tokyo, Japan

In Tokyo I asked for a local speciality in a restaurant near the port and its fish markets.
The chef took a fish from the aquarium just behind, prepared the dish and served it still alive: he made two sushi and two sashimi out of a medium fish (about 20 centimetres).
I did not put the bare preparation of the fish but that did not last more than 2 minutes (steadily and precisely cut).
That typical dish is not meant to entertain but to prove the flesh is really fresh, and not just raw.

Totally disgusting. This is, in its own way, just as bad as western battery farms for animals and some of the worst behaviour in slaughterhouses. It is completely wrong.

people, the fish is NOT alive, the nerves are still sending out signals from the brain. They take it out of water , kill it, then prepare it for you. If they wanted to serve it to you while it was alive they would just shove you head in the tank with the fish!
