Stunts he does are calculated to be as safe as possible.. normal people jump out of planes every day, get shot at for real and have limbs blown off. Why should we all cheer for Tom Cruise.

@kitten1g I recall seeing an interview with the stunt coordinator - he didnt mention anything about rails being used. .he did mention that the "danger" in the stunt was from the malfunctioning of the air-piston mechanism which jacknives the back of the truck. Of course the risk of that happening is less than one in a million.
