April 2011 - Within this video, Ross Enamait demonstrates a simple modification that can be made to an inexpensive jump rope. Following the discussion, he demonstrates a few basic turning styles starting at 3:42 (sprint in place, double unders, criss-cross, and double unders with a criss-cross).

Close up pictures of the rope handle can be found at the blog entry below:

  • Hi Ross! I've been training with a rope for a few years now and have nailed running in place and double unders. I've never understood the last section you demonstrate though, the "freestyle" part starting at 4:52. What are you doing there?

  • @mfrowley - Just having fun with the rope, mixing up a variety of turning styles

  • Hi Ross, thank you for your teachings. When choosing a rope, it there a particular length that in best? I am 175cm or 5ft 9inch what length would you suggest?

  • @haveyouseenmykeys - 9 feet should be fine at 5'9" (9 feet is a fairly standard rope length)

  • mr.Ross I feel GREAT respect for you as a personality you are my role model,a huge motivation I hope everything in your life goes perfect.you are a true LEGEND.

  • @SterPal - Thank you for the kind words. I'm just a regular person though, but i do appreciate it. Best of luck with everything.

  • I've developed "Tennis Elbow" from Jump Roping. It kinda started out laughable, because Ive never played tennis, but it's become a real nuisance in many other types of exercises and even striking the heavy bag. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • Hey Ross, I had the same problem a few weeks ago. I overcame this by sanding down the ends of the handles to create smooth edges. I found this to be a good modification when both handles were initially intact. Your method would obviously help if one/both handles are damaged. Thanks once again Ross!

  • I like the dedication :)

  • LoL too good with that rope.

  • Wow!!!!!! *___* that is wicked!
