karpov, Swedish Lutheranism can barely attract 3% of its "members" to church any given Sunday; if it weren't for funerals and weddings, most Swedes would never darken the Swedish Lutheran church's doors. It's one of the 5 most atheist/agnostic countries on Earth. So having bishops doesn't make your churches "fuller", does it? FWIW, I'm an atheist.

In the biggest Lutheran body in the world, Church of Sweden, we have bishops, priests and deacons in apostolic succession with the Apostles. We believe that is important. But for the high church within our high church Lutheran church the Episcopacy is indeed necessary. I do pray that the American lutheran bodies would be asking for the Episcopacy which makes the church fuller.
