90 degree view of shifting geometry and characteristics of the Campagnolo Gran Sport (no relation to later Nuovo Gran Sport) rear derailer. Shifting through 6 of 7 cogs on the cluster.

Specs:
'61 Campagnolo Gran Sport RD
SACHS freewheel (7-speed, largest cog unused)
Sachs/Sedisport chain
Campagnolo NR downtube shifters

  • Good freewheel and chain, my Dad's Gitane freewheel and chain exhibited little to no wear and is now 37 years old. Any of the Shimano machines I have here are all pooched, bent and chipped teeth and rounded chainrings.

    The only reason I went with SRAM is that they bought up Sachs ;). We'll see how that goes.
