If he had just said "play us out," I'd say you have a point. But the fact that he semi-quotes the O'Reilly video--"You know what that means, right?"--along with the laughter heard offstage leads me to believe that he's making an inside joke at O'Reilly's expense.

I'm kind of loving Shep now.

You're a tool... Play us out is a figure of speach in the business... He's not poking fun at anyone, dumbass.

They don't dislike each other. They actually seem to like each other a bit. Good acquaintances. Shep was just being good ole' Shep. Poking fun wherever he can. (he really should be on there prime time line up, Put Hannity Where Glenn is, Put Glenn where Shepard is, and put Shepard Where Hanninty is.

hahahahahaha that was freakin awesome Shep! "Play us out!" hahahaha.
Shep pokes fun at anyone who messes up like that, and considering it was a young O'Reilly, roughly around Shep's age, has to be known that the two dislike each other fiercely. Still was hilarious though! Love Shepard Smith's natural ability to ad lib and make it feel like he is talking to you personally instead of the millions who watch.
What? Sorry but "Play us out" is an actual phrase of heard before the bill oreilly thing.

sheperd smith is the kind of news caster to take advantage of a slight inside joke, no matter who he is talking to, which is why he is such a great newscaster
you can obviously tell by the way he pauses after "play us out at the en-- play us out" and the fact he asks if the kid knew what it meant, that he is hinting at bill o'reilly's slip-up.
