Kate sang this song on an album by the Irish musician Donal Lunny, who played bouzouki on Kate's Night of the Swallow.

The song is called "Mná na hÉireann" which translates to "Women of Ireland". Thank you to those who mentioned the title of the song in their comments, really appreciated.

  • Lovely. My roots cry out and are sated by this music.

There is no "part Irish" -- there is only "Irish" and Gaelic strums your soul's strings.

  • 28 year old and she's the most prominant artist in my memory. i'm into death, grind, emo you name it but if anyone plays kate bush i'm lulled into a trance... my parents where big fans so i guess it rubs off. great artist great music age gaps are nothing these days :)

He has a lot of interesting Gaelic videos

  • I was on the Guitar Craft completion course in Italy last year (there's video on YouTube of the improvised part of the performance). One member of the ensemble was a harpist, who played this at a meal. I was sitting there in tears listening to it while it slowly dawned on me where I'd heard it before. Thanks!

  • If you like this melody, check out Mike Oldfield's instrumental version. :)

  • kate bush is one of my favorite artists. her voice touches my heart and my soul.i hear her deep inside me and she relaxes me with her art of singing. i'm sad that i didn't hear her live yet. she seemes to be as breakable as thin glas, but i think she's strong as a black panther
