Google Docs

The trouble is, it really isn't that good.

Their version of the word processor is more comparable to Windows write than MS word. Their spreadsheet feels like lotus 123 v1, for example try de-duping rows. You can't, this feature plus others just aren't there.

There's a couple of interesting features, like the mentioned document sharing and you can add "live" data to your documents like stock quotes and google search results...

.. but overall, I can't use it. It's not nearly powerful enough.

Does the person you are sending the document to need to be a google user?

can some one help everytime i go into my docs it says and quote "your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users we can't process your request right now

Editing a word doc in google.docs seems rather archaic, especially if your original doc had different bullet styles, tables, and other images. Does anyone else feel that editing a doc within Google docs is rather restrictive and non-user friendly or am I missing some feature?

Oh, and the Presentations software doesn't even let you bring in chunks of text at a time, or animate them. Completely misses the point.

But I don't want Google owning my work, and I don't know if I'm necessarily going to have an internet connection. The former is the most important factor that this is destined for failure.
