@6tbonemmvn77 Datsyuk's lifetime plus/minus currently stands at +176.So take Kovalchuk for example. He may not be as offensively explosive but at the end of this season,he'll still have totaled over 400a and 200g in around the same amount of games played. As far as the Rangers go,they never had a Russian born star capable of "sticking" with the organization.Kovalev only had a few good seasons but it was during the Cup run of 94' where he really stood out.He faded away but was the most promising
@nyrplayer You think of the great Russian born players from the NHL's past and present and who do most people think of?At one time it was Fedorov,Bure, and Mogilny. Then Kovalchuk. Now,I think it's fair to say that 2 of the most celebrated + renowned (not only Russian born but in general) players in the world are Evgeni Malkin and especially Alex Ovechkin? Yet no other player of European descent (except for Datsyuk) has ever won 4 Frank J. Selke Trophy's over a span of 4 consecutive seasons.
@6tbonemmvn77 Don't worry, Sather's an idiot, but he's not gonna go around trading away good prospects. He's an idiot in a different way, he signs free agents that are past their prime to ridiculous contracts that cause problems for years. But as long as guys like Gordie Clark are making great draft picks past the 1st round every year, the Rangers can be a great team for years.
I don't think so. Don't get me wrong. Anisimov has great hands and protects the puck well with his long reach and big body frame. But he will never have the wheels that Fedorov had. At one time he and Bure were the fastest skaters in the league.Grachev has more speed than Anisimov and is just as big. I think if the Rangers remain patient with the both of them. They'll have to awesome power forwards for years to come. Now that's of course if management doesn't fuck things up.
I am very interested in Russian players and have just startet to watch this kid - is it me or does he looks like a young Fedorov?? How good is he/will be? Thanks for putting this up.
