  • Cool, I got a post from aa fundyloon.

  • "O, Jesus! O, Jesus! I must die abandoned of good men." Voltaire "My God, my God Why have you forsaken me?" Thomas Paine "I have been suduced by the Devil." Oliver Crommwell

  • Voltaire was a deist, not an atheist. He criticised christianity/organised religion. He mocked the christian preists on his deathbed. Paine, was also a deist, not an atheist. He too rejected christianity. Many people cite the devil - as a metaphor.

Oliver Cromwell, was a religious leader, a puritan, and believed he was guided by god's will. Obviously not an atheist.

  • The main question is are you going to live your fucking life or are you going to wake up early every Sunday morning and apologize for being human.

  • cujo7573,

Don't let fear of your own mortality brainwash you into believing the fairytale of immortality. Our mortality is what gives our life urgency, it's what gives it meaning. The reason we do what we can today, instead of tomorrow, is the fact that there might not be a tomorrow.

  • Being heretical is this initial sign that one is lucid of mind. Faith is the refusal to be lucid of mind. It is the desire of the faithful to feed their delusion and defend it from reason. Faith is a cop-out. It is intellectual bankruptcy. If the only way you can accept an assertion is by faith, then you are conceding that it can't be taken on its own merits.

  • @lemonheadthekid open minded and christian is an oxymoron

  • Deists believe that god created the world but then had no hand in its affairs afterwards, not a lot different from atheism really. In fact a precursor to atheism a stepping stone to reason in a time when atheism was socially unacceptable

  • Excellent vid. Short and to the point.

  • @Cenamark2 "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances" -1st Amendment.

Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli signed by Pr. John Adams:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion"

    Oops!

  • I hate that atheists believe freedom of religion protects their beliefs. The Founding Fathers didn't know about atheism, Islam, or various eastern religions and would have excluded them from the First Amendment. The First Amendment only refers to Judeo-Christian religions.

  • this is why God made hell.

  • How interesting that Voltaire said Christianity would be dead within a few years. However, the company that bought his printing press used it for the printing of Bibles after he had died. Ouch!!! Christians 1---Voltaire nada cuz.
