@donnycross If Derren is picking starsigns and what not while blindfolded it sounds very much like he is using audience data cards and/or radio communications from his crew. Much like Peter Popoff, the psychic healer who was exposed as a fraud by James Randy on national television.

Derren uses "stooges" and "plants" as much as any other "magician"/"Illusionist", his best trick is somehow making the viewing public to completely accept his claim that he never uses them. I've never met anyone who thinks he does, that's amazing!

@Mitjitsu if he used stooges at all i think his carrer wouldnt have took off like it did. he just knows how people will react, be it the use of certain words or even subliminal messaging. my cousin met him in new york once, he payed for his and his fiancees dinner. top bloke.

@jim191185 I've been to one Derren's shows and I'm 95% sure that one of the tricks he did involved using a stooge. Its the one where an audience member is asked to draw blind folded and then another member of the audience is asked what 2 numbers they're thinking of. What gave it away was the fact they didn't seem with it and didn't react at all with the audience's amazement at their seemingly lucky prediction.

As Penn+Teller once said when Magicians say they were trying to pschologically influence your decision its bullshit. Its nearly always a force or they have a way of knowing your choice after you've made it. In this instance its quite clear its the latter. Its still a good trick though.
