Sandy Collora (born August 8, 1968) is an American film director and design artist, best known for the independent short film "Batman: Dead End".

Collora was born in Long Island, New York. After freelance assignments in comic books and gaming magazines, at age 17 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams in Hollywood.

In 1988, after Collora landed a job at Stan Winston Studios on Leviathan, he became known as a creature designer and sculptor, eventually going on to work with Arnold Kopelson, Rick Baker, and Rob Bottin. Collora spent the next decade in concept design, sculpting, storyboarding, and art direction on major motion pictures. He designed the logo for Jurassic Park, and his designs can be seen in Men in Black, Dogma, The Arrival, The Crow, and Predator 2.

He made his directorial debut in 1999 with the short film "Solomon Bernstein's Bathroom". 1999 also saw the birth of his toy development studio and independent production company Montauk Films.

Collora burst into the limelight with his 2003 short film "Batman: Dead End", intended to act as a director's demonstration reel. After premiering the film at the San Diego Comic Con, it became an internet sensation, and was downloaded more than 1.6 million times in less than two days. Director Kevin Smith called it the greatest portrayal of Batman ever put on the screen.

Collora filmed a similar project, 2004's "World's Finest", with much of the same cast and crew.

Well I certainly dont regret watching this movie, not bad. Hell yes for people who can successfully substitute a high budget with creativity

  • I really liked this movie... The trailer is very misleading as to what the prisoner is, let me tell that he is not green.. also as to what the "stormtroopers" are... Solid acting, and plenty of plot twists to keep you enjoyed... And for the low budget, the graphics aren't that bad, in fact there are only a few scenes when they actually use graphics.... If you get the chance to watch this movie, DON'T PASS IT BY!!

  • A surprinsingly good movie. It's so far between good Sci Fi's, and this was a breath of fresh air into the genre..

Loosely based around the Babylon 5 universe I guess.

  • Kind of weird how this movie was kind of a sequel to Enemy Mine

  • Surprisingly good, saw this on Netflix, didn't know it was the same director as Batman Dead End. The budget was about half a million bucks, can't wait till someone gives this guy a decent budget, I'd like to see the Hunter Prey universe expanded/further explored.

  • Brilliant sci fi, reminds me of firefly. yeah so what its a low budget film and the acting isn't stellar, you really get absorbed

  • Wow! This is real science fiction... high noon in space. We need a series and/or a sequel.

  • Incidentally don't confuse Hunter Prey with another film called Hunter,Prey (note the comma)

  • As sci-fi movies go this was pretty good with a deep script but the plot twists and turns were hard to follow at times and i'm still not sure i understood the ending, so although the movie might well become a cult classic, the popcorn-munching masses in general will find it hard to digest

  • nerf GUN LOL

  • @dallasbagley

Yeah, that's why I suggested he be given Batman. I also saw his World's Finest trailer. The guy just really needs/deserves some real money and a real superhero franchise.

  • @ThirdRAILKink Have you seen his short film, Batman: Dead End?
