    Not really.

There have been times in the US where english dubbing has been widely done very badly. And there are plenty of cases where it was done extremely well. And there are plenty of examples in between.

The problem is that 99% of anime fans don't really have the ability to assess the actual quality of the original voice acting because we only understand it via subtitles, whereas a version that we understand is automatically more subject to scrutiny.

Studio Gibli has a distribution contract with Disney for Europe and the States.

In the trailer you can see "Disney Presents, a Studio Ghibli Film"

    So, nothing wrong there.

That still won't stop naysayers from trying to put them down just because they want to. It's hard to come across a Ghibli dub in which nobody lambasts it, because the truth is, many of these "fans" just want to hate on them just because. And sadly, many of their "reasons" for doing so, more often than not, are little more than just personal preferences. Which are one thing, but should everyone watch them the same way? Of course not, these movies are meant to be appreciated no matter what.
