I sat thinking the other day about my dogs lead and how its screwed up due to her biting it and I thought Hmm.. Perhaps I could make one out of a cobra stitch with paracord. So I had a think about it and designed one in my mind, going over how I would do it, and how I would make a loop for the handle etc, and once I was satisfied with the design, I went online and ordered 50 more feet of USA military 550 paracord with 7 inner strand core.
Well today was the day it came. It took me 2 and a half hours to make it while listening to some tunes. I ended up having to use some nitrile medical exam gloves to reduce the friction because I hurt one of my fingers with it taking so long to make, but at last it is done.
So, I thought I would just show you guys what I came up with. I looked online and I found one reference to someone else making a lead but I cannot access the image on their forum, so I have no idea how close theirs is to mine. Just goes to show, you can take one creation and make it into many things. I have seen pictures of people making dog collars out of a cobra stitch or a king cobra stitch. So its a pretty versatile thing to use.
How did you make the handle part? How did you connect the end to the middle?

@JaxomWolfe I made the entire length of the handle first and then tied it down to the core. Then I continued to make the body.

sweet leash im thinking of making a few soon, and a few collars, for my mutts
i had a little suggestion for the double looped end, maybe if you took a keychain hook type thing and wrapped the double loops around it instead of the actuall collar, you could then just click it on and off like a normal leash
if you google Keychain Hook you can see pics of what i mean
thanks for the video man ill refer to it a bit when i make mine, good luck

@tronclay Very good idea indeed :) Yes I know what you mean, I have a couple left from when I made my cobra stitch lanyards. However they are pretty weak ones. I would need a strong and sturdy one for a leash. btw, my leash is a solid contiguous piece of paracord I do not believe in having different pieces for this and that or for nice visuals. My thing is if it is a solid single piece of cord, then it could always be untied and used for something else if ever it was needed.
