After the child knows the sounds letters make, he/she needs to know how to blend the sounds together to make a word. Visit: http://www.virtualmontessori.com to get worksheets for reinforcement and repetition. Make it fun and the child will ask for more.

  • skabetti2002 you asked " Why does the teacher accept" ? The Montessori method of guiding a child is by observing what the child does and from that information, prepare a lesson on what he needs to learn next time. In this video it was the child's first time to build the word. If you notice, left to right directionality was been indirectly encouraged throughout whenever the child was asked to sound it out. It's just how he did it in the moment.

  • When sound-blending "hat" like this, why does the teacher accept that the child puts down the 3 letters in random order instead of writing it left to right? Doesn't the child need to understand left to right sweep? Just curious.
