Hackathorn Standards Drill.

This is a great drill to test a shooters overall skills. It incorporates and promotes or tests a shooters draw, speed and accuracy, footwork, shooting on the move, reloads.

- 60 rounds fired for a total of 300 possible points. NO make up shots.
- Shot on IPSC targets 1y spacing
- IPSC Target A = 5; C = 3; D = 2; Entire Head = 5; Miss = 0
- IDPA Target -0 zone = 5, -1 zone = 3; -3 zone = 2; Miss =0; Entire Head = 5
- All stages are from holster unless otherwise noted.
- 250+ Expert
- 200 - 249 Intermediate
- Below 200 Novice
- Holster and mag holders may be open top style.

NOTES:
- Originally designed for IPSC targets.
- IDPA targets have smaller A Zone and are more difficult. I use the IDPA targets because that is what I have. Hopefully it will make you better. Overlaying an IPSC A zone will show potential IPSC target scores.
- Highest Score Ever; Larry Vickers 298 (This may have changed and a clean score may have been recorded)
- Highest First Time Score: Rob Leatham 290
- Jerry Barnhart's First Time Score: 277
- Kyle Defoor Cold Score (not first time): 288

I do not wish to put myself in the above company of great shooters so I will separate my results: Note all of my scores are IDPA targets.
Best score ever (cold score): 294
This video: 270 (I probably should have shot the 20 and 25 yard line up and up and not rushed to get off the range as I had a very good score going)

  • Thanks for posting this video, good job. I just shot the Hakathorn Standards for the first time yesterday and scored 264. I think I rushed it a bit and will try to slow down next time and use more of the available time. Keep up the good work.

  • @socom308

I did the same thing and found myself rushing when I first started running this drill, or even other drills. Getting the timing down definitely helps. I was finally able to shoot a cold score of 294 on IDPA targets, but I haven't shot the drill in some time. I like to go back and revisit some drills completely cold without recent practice of them and see how it goes. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video's!

  • Like your videos, man, so thanks for posting them. I shot the Hackathorn standards for the first time today and thought it was a good skills test. But I think the IDPA classifier is more comprehensive. Have you shot that one as well?

  • @SuperSetCA

Thanks for watching and I am glad you enjoy the video's! The IDPA classifier is based off of the Hackathorn so they have stages that are very similar. I do not shoot competitively but I admit that I have shot the IDPA classifier a couple of times just to see where I might stand. I have planned to shoot the IDPA classifier as a video, but work has me pretty tied up right now.

    Thanks again for watching!

  • @ssdsurf One other tool that you may find useful is the Hackathorn Carbine Classifier. It has a similar COF to the IDPA classifier but shot at greater distance and very accuracy oriented. You can find it online through search.
