Fro Zen Feat Highline

Another natural boulder highline popped up today in the zero degree weather! Andrew Tysinger and I set off again to walk yet another line on the Elephant Buttresses. Fro Zen Feat is the 2nd line in this location(the other being the smoke stack highline), and it is also the 11th line that has recently been established in the boulder area. Thinking we were better prepared because we managed to remember gloves and warmer clothes proved to be tremendously helpful, but we were still left shivering unless we ran in place while opening and closing our hands. Filming literally sucked the heat from your body. Once we got the line up I got mentally prepared took off my gloves, my hat, my jacket, my shoes, my socks, and quickly rolled up my pants. I got on the line and walked it full man, onsight, free solo. The whole walk took about 3 minutes. My feet were literally numb when i returned to the anchor with my clothes. I put my everything back on as fast as I could and immediately found a spot to run in. After about 5 minutes of running i was warm again. I just couldn't find a way to get my feet warm again. They are just thawing now.

You are nuts Andy! Free Solo in 0 degrees! Dude, you got some big ones but be careful. You definitely got the ability, but weather and frozen feet is something that will get ya killed! Be careful my friend. Peace and Slackyness to ya!
