  • Actually, Campagnolo has disegned an electric shifter 2 years before Shimano, but they never released it, in fact this video is from 2007 (Cioni's first year in Predictor-Lotto team). Maybe in a near future we'll have a 12speed electric group who knows...

  • I can't even get over index shifters, however tell me; what if the bat runs out? really the only way for electric shifting to work is to create your own power supply from say a Dynohub generator or the like device otherwise you are a sitting (or should I say riding) duck!

  • shimano can only ripp off the best of Campagnolo at cheaper price , like they alwais did .....!

  • The solar power cells could be placed to keep them topped off, plus having a port for emergency power from standard cells.

I would like to see electric shifting for the simple reason that you can add multiple sites, especially time trials, but also the bar tops would be sweet. It also allows for auto-trim, since a single user input can control one or both derailleurs. Half step gearing, and internal hubs will soon be here too. There will be a time when riders forget how to shift with cables.

  • @pcfxer Mine has it, too. And it's from 2002 already.

  • @ik6gpy Yep, my 2005 Veloce set has a MODE and S/S button on the lever hoods.

  • @makeshiftdesigner Yes, laptops have motorized hard drives that have spinning disks and motorized cooling fans. Same with microwave--have you ever bothered to notice the spinning fan located near the side or rear vents?

  • @TheSanderz that's because he's been selected for dope testing. Meds are waiting at the corner :p

  • shimano is best!!!

  • manual control of cycles in both gearing & brakeing is i believe preferal fo most cyclists/especialy to those who like to maintain their own bikes & who do not need the added expense of having to worry about a little electric motor needing to be replaced & perhaps batteries also needing attention with long rides through hilly country & needing gear changing more often will probaly use battery power in shorter timespan than manual changers would need replacing.

  • @sd14jstme just because it has electric parts does not mean it is motorised. is your computer or laptop motorised? how about your microwave? it is not until it gets a motor that it becomes MOTORised.

  • adding electronics to a peddalong typr bike is contraction it then becomes motorised

&should not be allowed in noemal cycling races.
