Steppenwolf fue un grupo de rock de los años 1960 y 1970. Es famoso por sus canciones "Magic Carpet Ride" y "Born To Be Wild" (que apareció en la película de Dennis Hopper Easy Rider). Algunos de sus miembros eran de ascendencia alemana, y tomaron el nombre de la novela Steppenwolf (El lobo estepario) de Herman Hesse.

Steppenwolf is unfairly pigeonholed as a golden oldies band because "Born to Be Wild" and "Magic Carpet Ride" get played to death. They've never gotten credit for their depth, as exemplified by "Hey Lawdy Mama," "Screamin' Night Hog" and "Ride With Me."

totally agree mate - proper rock'nroll- still amazes me why they seem to get overlooked or forgotten about when people digging out classic rock music - apparently not even in hall of fame? (but correct me if I'm wrong!) they bloody should be!

last summer my wife and i traveled 1500 miles roundtrip to see steppenwolf in kentucky ..... if you have never seen them live, i highly recommend it.
