Monday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and many schools across the country had a day off. Gould treats the special occasion as a "day on," honoring the spirit of Dr. King, and embracing what he stood for.
Students attended a day-long special program including special guests, senior-led workshops, performances by the Gould Academy Singers, and a community reading of the "I Have A Dream" speech.
This year's keynote speakers were Temba and Vuyelwa Maqubela, who are from South Africa, but now live and work at Phillips Andover. They shared inspiring stories of their experiences living in South Africa during Apartheid, participating in the student protest uprising in Soweto in 1976, and their eventual Reconciliation.
