@uckermanf You don't get it at all. This bit was inspired by Jesse Jackson's horrible diction. As a matter of fact Tim Conway jr. played a clip for him and asked him what he just said and he didn't know. Also Jesse is a fan of the show so I don't know what your problem. Most people don't have the diction problems that he has. He also gets paid professionaly to speak and if no one understands you what's the point.

@uckermanf I've heard of Emory, and Clark. I wouldn't know Morehouse or Spelman from a hole in the ground. These ultra-liberal private institutions are an absolute joke. I had the disprivelege of studying abroad with some "Clarkies" as we called them.. needless to say it left a pretty bad impression of the caliber of student the school caters to.

@uckermanf When I was in college in L.A. in the early 2000s I used to listen to Tim Conway Jr. at night. The fact that you honestly think you could do this with any public figure is a complete joke. This was a regular feature on his radio show, not just a one-time thing. Jesse Jackson's diction is really that bad.

You could probably do the same thing with pretty much any public figure. In fact, I would challenge you to record some non-trivial conversation you have with someone, play back snippets of it to someone else giving them absolutely no context, and see if they understand everything you said.

I loved the comedy of Tim Conway Sr. This offering from his son is a little distasteful, especially given some of the comments made below.

The one about "Emory, Morehouse, Clark, and Spelman" speaks more about the decay of education in this country than anything else. These are all EASILY RECOGNIZABLE colleges. If you didn't know this, then I could see how you would have no idea what he was talking about, but it would also indicate that you are completely out of touch with the education system in the country. The rest of the snippet was perfectly clear, and even provided some context by saying they are not "state schools."

I'm not a fan of Jesse Jackson, but this is just a bit ridiculous. OK, Jesse Jackson has a thick accent. He is also a preacher, and in the black community, preachers have a certain way of talking that white people are not likely to always understand, but several of these things were perfectly understandable. Others were difficult to understand only because the snippet has been divorced from its context. The "circuit" one is just too short to make sense of it. The rest was left out intentionally.
