An American Railfan in Poland: The Forest Train, 2003; 1/2

In southeastern Poland is the Bieszczady, a rugged area of mountains and forests, reminiscent of Pocahontas County in West Virginia. As in Pocahontas County the major economic activity here involved forest products, and so naturally there were many railroads in the area to support that industry. Most of these have gone the way of their U.S. counterparts, but one has survived as a tourist attraction known as the "Forest Train." When I was there in 2003 two roundtrips per day ran over the 13 miles of preserved railroad, both originating in Majdan. This video takes the morning trip to Przyslup.

Yes, I thought that might be the case, but since there was nothing at your channel that pointed in that direction I thought maybe there was another explanation.

As a native of Central Ohio I was struck by the geographical and climatic similarities between Poland and "our" part of the world. Traveling from Gadnsk to the Bieszcsady is very much like traveling from the Great Lakes around Chicago to the Appalachians SE of Wheeling: from big body of water thru fertile farm lands to old mountains.
