A demonstration video about using the Digitech vocal 300 multi-effects processor pedal with a saxophone.

Effects shown here include stacked 4ths, pitch shift one octave down and one octave up,

This is a great pedal for horns because of the XLR input, allowing for use of an instrument mic. There are 40 programmable patches and I've set up 20 so far that I'm still dialing in. There are many parameters to adjust for each patch which allows for unique sounds and patches that give you just what you want.

In these recordings the camera mic picked up my sax very clearly because of the closeness and the fact that I was facing it, but the amp with the post effect sound was further behind and beside me, and not up too loud, so you hear a lot of my clean sound in the mix here. This processor allows the user to set a wet/dry mix as well, but when I'm on stage in a loud club the sax sound only comes through the system post-fx, and the acoustic sound is lost in the mix (again, that is unless I mix it into the patch ;)

  • can you put the description of the patch you created? please

  • @ignaciovalente if you click on "show more" you will descriptions of some of the patches. :)

  • Hey i was wondering if you could create a patch to where it has the lowered octave from like the middle C and down but then from C# or close to it, it plays the clean tenor sound?

  • @bdsaxophone Yes. There is a clean sound mix level/FX level, that balances the FX sound and the clean sound.

  • i was wondering...

how much does one oof those?

    i like color blue too

  • @Saxysax05 It would be fun, and I need to create some new patches, so yes I will, but no guarantee on when.

  • @CamTheCat Just got the unit........learning curve...LOL

  • hi! i play the bass clarinet, and i'm looking for a pedal to simulate a contrabass clarinet. do you recommend the vocal 300 for it? also, i've tried some distortion and wah-wah pedals before, and the sound was too dirty. maybe that's a microphone issue. what microphone do you use?

  • Hey mate, I have the same setup, and i notice you get the same little delay while playing the octave down patch. Gives the whole feeling of playing out of time... i really wanted to use it to play a few bass line things but can't do it as i've got to be about a 16th ahead of the beat. Any idea how to beat this?

  • @CamTheCat I know its probably a real pain in the ass! BUT, do you reckon if you get a chance you could post a video demonstrating how to actually set up patches?
