As part of the Olympia International Art & Antiques Fair held at the beginning of June 2009 we were delighted to be able to put on an important exhibition, celebrating the work of the nineteenth centurys greatest furniture maker, François Linke and re-unite the key pieces from his award winning stand at the Paris Exposition Universelle.

This unique exhibition aimed to tell the story of Linkes greatest achievement and reveal the genius of the Master behind the Masterpieces.

For the first time in over 100 years the key pieces from François Linkes ground-breaking and award winning 1900 Exhibition stand were re-united in a setting that paid homage to his original stand.

Included in the Exhibition was La Grande Bibliothèque, the Bibliothèque dominated Linkes 1900 stand and was undoubtedly the chef d'oeuvre of its maker, and one of the most important pieces of furniture ever to be made. Christopher Payne the renowned furniture historian certainly believes that this is one of the largest pieces ever recorded in the history of world furniture.

Also displayed was Le Grand Bureau, which received the coveted 'médaille d'or' at the Paris exhibition. We were delighted when this incredible item was awarded the prestigious COUNTRY LIFE / LAPADA inaugural Object of the Year Award for 2009. As the chairman of the judging panel Huon Mallalieu commented on Le Grand Bureau : It was the last Bravo! of the Belle Epoque, and it makes a splendid first COUNTRY LIFE-LAPADA Object of the Year .
