I had to make a video about a german poem and author for my german class and it took me awhile to find a good poem to make with a video...
here are the english trans.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out

  • my son, is in German II, his lehrer does not want the kids to "refer" to anything pertaining to WWII apparently, in order to keep everything within the classroom politically neutral?

    I may ask teacher about it.

    Last year I gave a presentation about Germany comparing it from WWII to the time period I lived in Germany in the 1970s...part of it concerned the Holocaust...I lived 12 miles from Dachau Concentration Camp...& included info about it while doing my discussion with the classes....
