http://www.DadLabs.com - In this episode of Survivor Dad, stay at home dad Nathan offers a few money savings tips to parents. Babies bring with them lots of additional costs, and he shares some of the things his family did to save money. Cutting cable television and using services like Netflix or watching tv shows online can reduce the amount spent on entertainment. The Internet also provides options for getting news and making phone calls, which can result in reduced cell phone plans. Reusable diapers, buying used children's clothing, refinancing mortgages and planning food and meals can also bring savings. DadLabs Ep. 785. Survivor Dad Ep. 11.

  • Great vid.

  • Great ideas, Survivor Dad. Thanks! I also think it's important to pay yourself first with your automatic 401k deductions (tax free) and automatic debits to your investment account - money never seen but saved builds up fast!

  • I've found the biggest money saver for us is paying our bills weekly by direct debit, just a little bit every week, that way when our bills arrive we're already in credit. In 6 months I've gotten all of our utilities at least 6 months worth in credit. We wish we had more in our savings (don't we all?) but we know that if something were to happen, we have *at least* six months of mortgage and utilities waiting to be used. You just don't notice the money gone each week if it's in small amounts.

  • Wow! I am doing all those things! I must be on the right track! My friends and I have started a collab channel called TheStayAtHomes! I'm the only stay-at-home dude though. I would love for you to visit our channel, after you check out my regular channel (hehe). What you guys are doing here is awesome!!!
