  • For each of us, there is a smell or a sight or a sound that will race our hearts back to a time when life was the very best, from dawn to dust, and this is mine. The absolute and complete love of my life, Kathy, played this song after we returned to her home from our 1st date ~ 02 March 1968 ~ and her love felt like the warmth of summer's sun on my body, do you understand how that feels? I lost her to Vietnam but I am, still, thankful everyday of my life for her tenderness. I still cry.

  • I remember holding the first and only love of my life listening to Rod McKuen records all those years, tears, and fears ago. Life was so simple and love was so real. Funny how such sadness can make you feel so good. Brings back all the memories and possibilities of a life not lived.

  • and I loved his Listen to the Warm book of poetry. Still have it along with most of his others....

  • Wow! This song could be a brazilian Bossa-Nova, as beautiful as Tom Jobim songs use to be...

  • When you listen to Rod, you know he gets it. He has a way of putting into words exactly how you feel but can't express. Thank-you Rod for being a very special part of my life.

  • @ConservativeAnthem Oh go back to sleep!

  • I've just been catapulted back 40 years to such a warm and happy time and place. thank you so much for posting!

  • Rod McKuen was my sanctuary during my teen years. This was one of my favorites. You can almost feel the warmth through his words in this song. Such tenderness...i would escape from the world when, all by myself in my room, i would play his music over and over. i am so glad that i still have some of his great books...

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
