As England gear up for this summer's European Championships, Umbro are celebrating a true English football icon and a man who has spurred on the nation to success at previous tournaments: Paul 'Gazza' Gascoigne. Here, Gazza talks about the highs of Euro 96, where he helped England to famous wins over Scotland and Holland, and the pride he felt when representing his country. To see more of Gazza and the stories he's shared with us, take a look at http://www.umbro.com/facesofengland

Gazza was the best player i ever saw playing for England. One of the few players who played better for country than for club - the better the oposition the better he played. A shame some of these millionare players of today dont have the same attitude towards playing for England.

That would make a lot of sense and if thats true I think I would have much rather heard that at the time than all that kebab rubbish...all the same I still think they should have taken him, could have made the difference in extra time against Argentina,or even just to have taken a penalty instead of Batty.

Passion?...obviously!...control possesion and know how to pass the ball?..please! Watch Italy v England 1997 W.C. qualifier and tell me who controlled possession and dictacted the game to make sure we got the result and qualified for France 98(Hoddle your a joker for leaving him out, kebab or not, probably just jelous)... Gazza didn't just pass the ball and dictate play when needed,he made the game exciting for England fans...you just never knew if he was gonna do something magic!
