http://www.SwordNArmory.com Tamahagane (玉鋼:たまはがね ?) is a type of Japanese steel. Translated as "jewel steel". It is mainly used to make Samurai swords, such as the katana. The steel is made from black sand. The most useful process is the folding, where the metals are forge welded, folded, and welded again, as many as 16 times. The folding removes impurities and helps even out the carbon content, while the alternating layers combine hardness with ductility to create toughness.
This tanto sword is made of tamahagane steel by Takemoto.

  • cutting power comes from the blade, the wielder, and the soul. if you strike tatami mat, and the lower half moves(in this case the entire stand), it is either poor swordcraft, or a poor swordsman. in this case it might be both. but especially the second one.

  • this dumbass is gonna fucking kill someone with that!!! hes just wailing at it with one hand... retard....

  • I think its safe to say people pay big money for nihonto because they are handcrafted by experts who do it the hard way, its not only a weapon but a piece of art. While production swords can be art and functional at a low price shows that they arent nihonto but it doesent mean they arent swords that were developed in the long run by master swordsmiths from years ago. The reason nihonto are so cherished is because theyre sentimental purposes.

  • You have disgraced the name of the samurai!

  • theres a difference between tamahagane and nihonto tamahagane . for a sword to be concidered nihonto , the steel has to come from only one place in japan . but tamahagane is actually not very hard to make and many people make there own .

when collectors want an authentic , or authentic reproduction , they look for nihonto swords . they only make a certain amount of sword quallity steel per year , that can be considered authentic . hence the high price of nihonto blades.

  • @RenmarStriff Um, what? 3/4 of your reply has nothing to do with what I said.

  • @ChrisRiley93 Who cares? Its a blade, it works, and its sharp. Call me non old fassioned but arent all blades made to be used? If you have this expensive as hell blade h ow many times are you going to actually use it? Screw that. Make em good, high quality, but dont make me pay for some 'name' so I have nothing but a wall hanger and cool looking blade. Give it to me at a price to where I dont mind thrashing it if I have to.

  • Listen, if that tanto is really made out of Japanese Tamahagane, it would be expensive as hell. That being said, they wouldn't let someone with very little experience in cutting cut with it if it was as expensive as a real tamahagane tanto would be.

  • "i am not a professional cutter" does that need to be pointed out?

  • Takemoto Authentic Hand Forged Tamahagane Steel Katana Samurai Sword ooo
