We try to switch every month or so, like today, #1824 was leading the local, and it ran base leg first, then backed around the wye.
-
Her sister?! 610 was an S-160-A U.S. Army 2-8-0 built in 1952, 4501 was a southern mikado built in 1911, to be honest I prefer both of them along with 630
-
Yes, the 610 is in regular operation.
-
Question, is 610 still in service? I know her sister 4501 is not, and hasn't been for 10 years.
-
odd normally 610 usually switches over on the wye then backs into Grand Junction. I remember on one occasion it did that and one of the Alco's took us back to east Chattanooga.

The only thing that I don't like about that engine is the bell. Just sounds too bland. I prefer the manually operating bell sound.
-
That is the engine used in the music video, "Long Black Train".

was that hte old whistle on 610 back from 1990?
I appreciate the photography--remaining long enough on particular shots to watch the motion!

Thanks, I've never been fond of that MTV penchant for making a scene last only 25 to 30 frames. It makes my head hurt. Some of these scenes were challenged by hand-holding a pre-image stabilization camera, though.

I hadn't remembered carrying my scanner when I shot this video so long ago. It's nice to hear Mrs. Lamb again on the radio at Grand Junction.
