while having a short holiday in Filey on the Yorkshire Coast, I took a trip to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway's Vintage Vehicles weekend, which as a Railway Enthusiast and a lover of Classic Cars, I couldn't resist a visit! the railway ran a normal service, well as far as they could as it was in the middle of a warm spell in Yorkshire, and the section between Goathland & Levisham is an area that often gets set on fire by discharge from the Steam Locomotives, so a diesel loco is added to the front of the train, which works hardest of the 2 locomotives on the train, upon arrival at Levisham, the diesel runs onto the rear of the next service which will be waiting or arriving in the other platform, then the diesel is added to the rear, and pushes the train back to goathland and vice versa.
On the day the railway ran a large variety of steam engines and diesel locomotives, which were;
|S&DJR 7F Class 53809
|SR 'V' Schools Class 30926 'Repton'
|LMS 5MT 'Black Five' Class 45428 'Eric Treacy'
|NER Q6 Class 63395
BR Standard 4MT Class 76079
|BR Class 24 Diesel D5061
|BR Class 31 31128 'Charybdis'
all along the line were various vintage cars and lorrys, including Jaguar E-Types, MG B's, Ford Capri's and my personal favourites, Morris Minors (of which I should have my own Morris Minor by the end of the Year!) so I was having great fun, however due to a lineside fire the days trains were running quite late, resulting in the 14:00 off Grosmont being cancled and then in my final shot of 63395 arriving at Goathland she was nearly an Hour late. the weather was warm and little wind made it a decent day to be out, but it did get abit to warm in the afternoon and me stood up most of the time which my cameras made me tired, but still had a good day!
