  • it's cute

  • @guitboxchicken I agree. It is not that big of a firebox but the boiler is big enough so it won't be a battle between adding coal and adding water. Good coal can be hard to come by, plus then you get to deal with finding/making grates, ash pan, the ash and the cinders flying out the stack. A 3" scale 4-4-2 in MI, the Spirit of Traverse City, burns diesel oil by using an atomizer and it is always burning when the engine is running and heats the firebox evenly.

  • @mikado1555 The thing that gets me is that hand firing a locomotive that size isn't all that difficult!

  • how much is it because im going to buy it

  • The cylinders need a constant supply of oil administered in small amounts like a mechanical or hydrostatic lubricator. Pumping a few pumps of steam oil at the beginning floods the cylinders and then quickly runs out allowing the valves and cylinders to score and no longer seal. Having the fire go out at 140 psi allows cold air to be drawn into the firebox and the thermal shock to the boiler and tubes can cause sheets to crack and tubes to leak. when running there should always be a fire

  • OMG I LOVE IT but id switch it to coal, Green is meh fave color but i highley dout i could get it anyways... D:

  • @0812201 couldn't agree more, the diesel engine really doesn't add anything and the noise is kinda annoying on a steam engine :P

  • I have to say, that locomotive looks amazing. sadly, i doubt i have enough cash to pay for it. still, it's beautiful

  • What a great idea to attach a household burner and automated feed back loop! I've never seen that before. Thanks for a ride on your footplate!

  • how much is this engine going for
