On October 8, 2009, Rep. Tammy Baldwin (WI-02) reacts to the House of Representatives passing legislation that offers federal protection for victims of hate crimes who were targeted because of their sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or disability. The bill now awaits action in the Senate.
It's about time. I've had quite enough of this hypocritical radical right wing stuff.

I work with gay suicidal youth, most are Christians and one was only 12 . His friend brought him to me and I tried to help him his significance. Another youth lay in his bed at night for two weeks with his dad's loaded shotgun in his mouth. He didn't pull the trigger because he didn't want his mom to see bloody sheets.
A youth does not choose to be gay and then kill themself because they are. Unfortunately I was not able to get that message across to a 11 year old.

Congratulations. I'm assuming that the bill has passed conference committee and is merely awaiting a final Senate vote. If that's the case, can you provide a link to the actual text of the law?
