Students, many from Roosevelt High School, marched to the Armed Forces Recruiting Station in Boyle Heights on March 19, 2007. Chanting "Books not bombs," the students joined others who were willing to risk arrest to block entrance to the recruiting station, which ended up shutting down for the rest of the day.

  • It's so easy to protest against the military when we all seem to forget that we have this right to even be heard because of the blood of all of our fallen heroes. This country was built on war and in order to keep our liberties we shall continue to go to war. It sucks but it's reality. I served 4 years and I'm very proud to be here alive but we all know what we sign and swear to.

  • WTF. . . . Put a Recruiting Station in Harvard !!!

  • smart, that's why roosevelt is ranked in the top 5 school's in los angeles with the most drop out's in the city. keep the tradition alive.

  • Bush died and now my son Died

Is it bush's Fault dat ur son wanted 2 join da marines

  • the guy that has the sign bush lied to my son. how did bush lie to him, your son brave soul rip joined the marines by himself no no body forced him!

  • they protest against the military that they dont want it there, than federal funding for the school should be taken away then.

  • Iam with you

  • Amen! I don't see many recruiting officers there. Also (quitanillae), that is a bad representation of military officers. However, I agree. Stay in school, out of gangs, and know what joining the military really entails before you sign anything.

  • Good for you, that's the way the recruiting process is supposed to go. However, recruiters often mislead disadvantaged children into joining the military by making false promises. These people are also protesting the presence of recruiting officers at their schools, something which all parents have the legal right to do.

  • God for you Roosevelt High.
