Golite Pinnacle Pack review 2008 model.
Independent review.
I highly recommend this pack as a light weight alternative to people wanting to lighten their load.
I carried 16kg for a couple of days till I ate my weight down, which would be as far as I would take this pack weight wise. Golite recomend 18kg max.
Im slowly whittling my weight down to a 5kg base weight for 3 1/2 season use.

  • Good to see a review thats done with a full weight pack -- Nice vid!!

I'm worried about the padding on the straps, i carry around 10 -12 kgs for 2 night wild camps in the UK.

Have you had any long term issues having had it over 12 months? + are you still using it?

  • @0bsessivecompulsive That sought of weight (10-12kg) is perfect for this pack. No long term issues, pack has withstood everything so far very well. Material is surprisingly tough!

Biggest problem is as you go to a smaller matress (neoair Allseason now) is what to do for back panel/support. A piece of Corflute is the next experiment...meant to work well.

Also the later model Pinnacles weigh more than this '08 model....not sure why Golite is getting heavier....

  • thank you!

    first vid on this pack

  • Yes, when I was in the market for a new pack, I was looking for reviews and I was surprised that there was none for the Pinnacle.

So wallah! A video there is.

  • @EarthlingsOnBoard The material would want to be tough! Its made from dyneema that is something like 10 times stronger than steel!

  • @EarthlingsOnBoard Cheers for the reply!

I use an Alpkit Dirtbag mat but also have a homemade tarp groundsheet for under the tent (as it never stops raining) so they should do the trick.

I never would have thought of carrying 3ltrs of water as i just comes out of the ground as pure as it gets in the Lake District here, but maybe it would work as a water cushion.

I liked your vid with the animal cruelty cross too!

All the best to you and yours from the other side of the world

    Mark.

  • Nice review and close ups! It looks like a great pack. I'm debating between the GoLite series (Quest, Pinnacle) and Granite Gear Nimbus series (Latitude, Meridian, Ozone). Enjoy the trails!

  • Mate you are a dead set legend. Awesome review
