Well, I am devoted to my own religion (Greek Orthodox), but we have to be careful about pinpointing a "correct" religion. What people SHOULD do is to reject these cults (including the hate filled evangelical Christians as well as radical Muslims), and embrace faiths that seek to truly convey the message of compassion and tolerance, even when criticizing the sins of others. I do agree with you about the corporate interests who actually profit from the collapse of countries.

@ligreekguy Of course their own interest suffered. They got caught up in the process of making money and thought it would continue! However, the bubble burst cause the big guys didn't know when to get out! That's the case when companies as well as governments get too big! The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing! People who are knowledgeable about religion and the truth are able to discern what religions are dysfunctional and which religion is the correct religion!

Religion is rendered dysfunctional only by those who are themselves dysfunctional. While I concur that the profligate spending of the oversized Greek welfare state was a contributing factor to the crisis in the national economy, a number of investment companies (including the US' own Goldman-Sachs) in Germany and elsewhere actually helped set it up so that they would actually profit by the Greeks going broke. When the crisis became way overblown, their own interests suffered.

@ligreekguy As far a dysfunction of religion as well as immoral secular lifestyle, I'm referring to both ancient and modern! If people had morals and values they would not be corrupt! Corruption only benefits a few and harms the rest. And when greater society is harmed; there goes the empire! And as far as Germany owing Greece because of Adolf Hitler (crazy man)!? Send the bill to Hitler! The Germans after WWII have paid the price over and over for Hitler's 12 years of dysfunction!

Well, I am not quite sure what you mean as to the dysfunctions of their religions. Are you talking about ancient or modern religions? Many great civilizations declined due to overextension of their empires (Rome), corruption and decadence (Greece, Rome), a failure to industrialize and modernize (Persia, China in the pre-Mao period), resting on their historical laurels, etc. Germany owes Greece as far as I am concerned (WW 2), and had its own investment interests at stake.

@ligreekguy Both the Greeks and Persians have had remarkable histories! However, great civilizations have declined! What would be the reason for this? Could it possibly be as a result of dysfunction coming from their religions? Currently the financial crisis in Greece revealed unfortunate corruption in Greece. And lucky for Greece that Germany came to their rescue.
