Sergei Rachmaninov (1873-1943) Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor, op.18 Piano: Arcadi Volodos Riccardo Chailly Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Royal Albert Hall, London, 1997
Impressive performance, technically brilliant. However I often got the feeling that Volodos missed the "romantic singing voice" in some passages and geared toward a more percussive approach instead (see 26:52 for example), which, in my opinion, is not really suited for this Rachmaninov's piece. A part from that, I really enjoyed this performance and I think it's one of the best we have.
I agree, but highly enjoyable.
