Internet Cosmetics Coach Lisa Liddiard teaches you how to apply makeup to Asian eyes and how to give a crease to a mono lid or flat eye lid.

This is a video response to Luke who is Asian and has one eye lid with a crease, and the second is a flat eye lid or mono lid. She is looking for a way to use makeup to even out her eyes and give a crease to the one that has none.

Makeup is used as highlights and shadows. Meaning, the lighter the color, it will highlight or pop out that area. The darker colors shadow, receed those areas. We can 'fix' the appearance of problem areas, or flaws with makeup, depending on how we apply highlights and shadows.

This is a trick that will help both eyes look equal.

I use a four step technique to apply eye shadows. So, you will use this four steps on the eye lid that has a crease, then add another step to make 5 steps to the eye lid that is mono lid.

1. Apply matte light eye shadow to your entire eye lid. This is meant to be the base and cover any flaws, capilaries, redness and give a smooth, even finish to the entire eye lid.
2. Apply your darkest shade to the crease of your eye lid. Apply in a 7 technique (you'll see what I mean watching the video) and blend.
3. Apply your middle shade as a crease over lay to the eyelid. Right next to the dark crease, blending it well.
4. Apply your lightest shade to highlight the lid, inside corner and brow. Blend well.

Now for the eye lid that is mono lid. Do the 4 steps above, then take a dark shade (matte black, charcol grey, dark brown) and darken the crease, only shading the horizontal part of the crease. Don't finish the 7 with it's long tail.

Apply liner and mascara equally to both eyes.

I hope this helps Luke.

  • most asians have a double crease. thats y asians who have monolids want to have creases so that they can do more makeup looks like the neutral eye and other 3-dimensional looks.also our eyeliners dont show when we open our eyes. only if we apply it all the way up to our eye area where the crease is meant to be.

  • thank u so much ur advice is really great and i love the way u explain so clearly!

  • Saw your videos and thought I would say hi!

  • I thought if you go all the way in at the crease it will make asian eyes appear smaller?

  • tooooooooooo gud.. crystal clear explanation.. luv U

  • @violetgirl1996 Yup, that's very true, yet very few people know this. Lots of Asian's have creases, but what people fail to mention is that Asian eyes are not sunken in like Westerners. XD That's the difference.

  • but asains don't have this much space to work with. i'd have to make mini 7's

  • I saw a person at the mall before, she tried to do the fake crease look with EYELINER. It was just a solid black line where the crease would be. She really needs to see this video.

  • But, you see...people aren't staring at you like you think they are. It's all in your self conscience...If you make a big deal, sure, people WILL notice. But, If you play it like you have confidence, it's less noticeable.

  • wow.... this lady really knows her stuff, kudos, i'm favoriting this

  • so helpful!! luv ur work.
