I loved this movie when i was a kid, but now I find myself laughing at what an appalling military commander Voltan is. He might as well have given them orders like:

"Now I want you to go over there to that rocket ship and kill everyone, and by everyone I mean yourselves as well. Now there are plenty of you so I don't want you to feel stingy, so just get in there and drown them in blood my hawkmen. I will come in later and punch them up when you're nearly all dead."
