Slowing down on a snowboard is accomplished with a move called the side slide, or snow plow, which involves putting pressure on the heels. Keep the toes up in the air when slowing down with help from the manager of a sport shop in this free video on snowboarding tips.

  • @jacker372 yeah cuz u have to almost sit down to realy get ur edges in....unless ur using a rental board....then i jsut feel bad for u LOls

  • @dustied i think you've got to try and force yourself to do it both ways - theres certainly nothing wrong with slowing down facing 'up' the hill. The only problem is you can't see whats in front of you.

  • ii tried that but dosent work to good on icy snow

  • the first time i went snowboarding,,, idk why but i felt sooo much more comfortable doing the "snowplow technique" facing the opposite way- with my toes digging into the snow and the heals off the ground.......i guess i perfered doing it that way cuz if i fell i knew i cud put my hands down on the snow...... it worked fine a lot of the time but how dangerous is it doing it that way?? cuz i know it def looked ritarded

  • @cutiex00x Same here XD I guess that's what I get for starting on a weekend =p

  • @SKATEFREAKO54 burton boards are pretty burnt out now a days.. id go with capita or stepchild.

  • @SKATEFREAKO54 the correct size board is above ur shoulders and under ur nose

  • It helped a little but when I go fast I panic cause im afraid I will crash. Plus there is people walking around and I don't want to hit any one! So I just fall down. My instructor helped me how to go slower but i was going down a hill so it was kinda hard.
