The ninth chevron apparently leads to an ancient ship called the "Destiny"; which is pursuing another ancient ship in charge of placing stargates on distant worlds. That's what Stargate: Universe is going to be about.

@oberlerchner123 Thanks, oh can I ask, so in the movie they just basicly dailed a random address with the 6 Chevrons and the last Chevron has to be the point of origin aka the Pryamid and the sun?. What happens if you do not use the point of origin?, will the gate just not open?.

@NANOFORGE Well the gate in the movie was different then the one in the series for whatever reason.
In the movie every Stargate had differnt symbols.
In the series every Stargate has the same symbols, exept the point of origin, but it doesnt matter, its pretty much like the green "dial" button on a cellphone.
And the adress in the movie wasnt random, it was engraved into the cover stone.
