On Saturday, June 4th, we went to the Poormans Canyon for Tuna. We caught about 7 Skipjack Tuna (at the time we thought they were Atlantic Bonitos) and kept 3. After a couple hours of trolling, we hooked into a nice 65lb Yellowfin tuna. After my dad fought the fish for 30 mins, we landed it. All in all, we had a nice day of fishing.

  • my friend done gaffed a 40 pound mahi nd it still had quite a bit of energy and ripped the gaff right out of his hands and 30 mins later a big sportfish reported catching it with the gaff still in it

  • @TheSuperiorboy Thats cool, we once gaffed one of biggest Mahi Mahi I have ever seen. I think he was around 95lb. Anyway. when my friend gaffed him, he did like a backflip, spit the hook, and got of all in about a second. I wonder how that Mahi you guys gaffed still had enough energy to bite another line. Freaky.

  • Gotta love ocean fishing! I went with a guide down in the Keys this past christmas we only caught some small snapper since the water was cold but it was a great experience either way! I hope to get out again and maybe catch a tarpon! Thanks for sharing!
