here's my best attempt of re-creating John Mayer's Waiting On the World to Change.
All instruments were recorded entirely by me and no one else, as no audio from the actual track was used.
I recorded 5 different drum tracks separately on my Casio keyboard.
1. Kick and Snare
2. Ride Cymbal
3. Bells
4. Hand Claps
Next I recorded the bass part using my Squire P-bass directly into the pre-amp and into the computer.
The keyboard parts on this track are:
1. Glockenspiel
2. Acoustic Piano
3. Electric Piano
4. Organ
5. Trumpets
For the guitar parts, I played my Fender Strat into my Fender Blues Deville 4x10. The amp was close miked on the top left speaker with a Shure SM58 (I don't have a 57, but I removed the dome cover for recording. The 57 and 58 are identical except for the cover pieces).
1 rhythm guitar, 2 in the solo
Finally I recorded acoustic guitar with my Epiphone Acoustic.
all 14 different tracks were recorded in AcoustaSonic Mixcraft. Great program.
(because of computer lagging issues, I mixed down everything but the guitars to a single track, then added the addition guitars)
I am multi talented musician myself. Very experienced guitar player. at the age of 17 hard to believe i quit for 3 years also.. Music just comes naturally to me. and most instruments do too. It is a beautiful thing to be multi talented. Just think most people can't even play a recorder. Musicians are some of the most talented people on earth no matter what anyone says. Good job by the way. But i noticed no vocals. I am not much of a singer myself. If my voice sounds good ill play and sing. :)
