Post Graduate in Chemistry from the University of Kerala (1974) with first rank. After working in BARC, Mumbai for sometime, joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1978. Since then, held positions of Deputy Commissioner in Hassan and Mangalore Districts, Chief Secretary, Zilla Parishad, Raichur, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Secretary to the Government, Education Department etc in the early period of services. Acquired an MBA Degree from Southern Cross University, New South Wales, Australia (1997). Later as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes during 1998-2002, was involved in the preparations for introduction of VAT in Karnataka. Headed MSIL, Hutti Gold Mines, KSRTC, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation as Managing Director during 2003-2008. In between had a brief stint as Joint Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi. Presently working as MD of Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation (KSIIDC) since June 2008.
